Bill Bowrey and Pat Apps with the QEII Fields Challenge plaque - the first one for a South Gloucestershire Council open space
Councillors representing the Kings Chase ward of Kingswood braved a downpour this afternoon to welcome the QEII Fields Challenge plaque to the refurbished play area at Wesley Hill. The plaque will be fixed permanently next week now that the open space has been transformed with seating, goalposts, an adventure area, new shrubs, safe matting in the play area and new play equipment.
Commenting on the project, local councillors Pat Apps, Bill Bowrey and Terry Walker say:
“We want this space and play area to be used and valued by the whole community and across all generations. We hope that residents of all ages will take pleasure from the improvements and the new facilities that are going in. They are long overdue and will contribute to the physical regeneration of this corner of Kingswood.
We are particularly delighted that Wesley Hill will be the first South Gloucestershire Council open space to receive a plaque as part of the nationwide QEII Fields Challenge initiative. This is recognition of a lot of hard work by lots of local people and organisations, which will benefit the area for many years to come.”
