Staple Hill will see a new service for job seekers in the New Year, with the Our Place Community Flat and Staple Hill Regeneration Partnership launching a new weekly service.
From Monday 9th January, Staple Hill Job Searchers Support will be offering practical help to residents seeking new employment opportunities. The service will run every Monday afternoon, except Bank Holidays, at the Our Place Community Flat, 1a Berkeley House, Staple Hill Bristol, BS16 5HS from 2pm until 4.30pm.
Staple Hill Job Searcher Support is run by a friendly group of local volunteers who will be on hand to provide independent support and advice. Over a hot drink they will signpost local services, offer a sympathetic ear and provide free access to computers and wifi.
No appointment is necessary so anyone who would like some support to get back into employment can drop in. A warm welcome is guaranteed.
Welcoming the new service, Staple Hill’s Labour councillors Ian Boulton and Shirley Potts say:
“The New Year is traditionally a time to make a fresh start, and the Staple Hill Job Searchers Support Monday afternoon session will be a new service run by a fresh team of local volunteers who all recognise that looking for work can be a rewarding, if often frustrating, process.
It says something about Staple Hill that our community has a group of residents committed to supporting local job searchers as they go through the roller coaster experience of preparing for employment. With the wide range of skills our volunteers are bringing to this project we are confident we can provide practical help for anyone who is looking for work.”
