Dozen out to clean up Kingswood

Spring_Clean_2017.jpgKingswood’s Labour councillors joined forces with the Friends of Kingswood Park last Saturday in the now annual Big Spring Clean day in Kingswood Town Centre. This year the team of 12 – made up equally of councillors and local activists – managed to fill 22 bags of rubbish, remove a huge amount of glass bottles and glasses from shrubs, and even cleared 2 sofa seats and a plastic garden chair from shrubs.

The areas cleaned were the Cecil Road car park, and the very central Halls Road and Regent Street. This gave those involved the opportunity to chat with many shoppers who were appreciative of the group’s efforts.

Kingswood councillor and Labour Group Leader, Councillor Pat Rooney, said:

“The Big Spring Clean is now a firm event in our diary every year. We are most grateful for the time and commitment of the Friends of Kingswood Park for doubling our team this year, and as a result we got a lot more cleared. This spring clean forms part of a major project of us working together to improve Kingswood Town Centre, which includes reviving the Kingswood Business Association and teaming up with community groups such as the Friends of Kingswood Park.
