Bus shelter now in place

Roger - Springfields bus shelter

Filton’s Labour Councillors are today celebrating the arrival of a new bus shelter opposite the Springfields extra care unit on Gloucester Road North.  Councillor Roger Hutchinson has worked hard for many months to bring this scheme to conclusion.

Roger secured the support of the former Executive Councillor for the full funding of the shelter by South Gloucestershire Council. He had made the case that the bus stop was not only across the road from Springfields but also served older peoples’ housing in Bevan Court and the new Churchill Homes on the corner of Gloucester Road North and Southmead Road.

Roger has shared residents’ frustration at the length of time it has taken to put the shelter in place.  Roger explains, “There was a problem because the original contractors were unable to fulfil the order and were eventually taken over by a larger company who have finally delivered and ensured that the residents that it will serve are able to wait for their bus in the dry.”
